Stump Grinding in Central Florida

The Solution

We Make It Simple.

The Florida Land Clearing Challenge

Stump grinding is the process of using a specialized machine to grind a tree stump down to below ground level — eliminating it completely without the disruption of full excavation.

After trees are removed or cleared, leftover stumps cause real problems: they’re tripping hazards, they obstruct mowing and grading, they attract termites and pests, and they take up space you could use. In Central Florida’s warm, humid climate, stumps also decompose slowly — an untreated stump can sit in your yard or on your lot for years before it breaks down on its own.

Stump grinding solves the problem quickly and cleanly. Our grinder reduces the stump to wood chips a few inches below grade — the chips can be left to fill the hole naturally, used as mulch, or raked out depending on what you need. The result is a flat, flush surface ready for landscaping, construction, or whatever comes next.

The Problem

DIY isn’t realistic — and cheap crews cause expensive mistakes. Overgrown land holds back your projects, harbors pests, and creates unsafe conditions.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Stump grinding is typically priced per stump, based on the diameter and accessibility. In Central Florida, individual stumps generally run $75–$200 each, with bulk discounts for multiple stumps on the same property. Large or deeply rooted stumps may cost more. A: Stump grinding uses a machine to grind the stump down to below ground level — leaving the root system in the ground to decompose naturally. Stump removal involves excavating the entire stump and root ball out of the ground, which is more disruptive and typically more expensive. For most residential and construction purposes, grinding is the right call. If you need the ground fully clear of roots — such as for a poured concrete slab — we’ll advise accordingly.
A: We typically grind to 6–12 inches below grade, which is sufficient for most landscaping and general construction purposes. If you need deeper grinding — for example, under a driveway or foundation — let us know during the evaluation and we’ll account for it.
A: In most cases, no. Grinding disrupts the root system enough to stop regrowth. Some species — like live oaks and certain palms — may send up occasional shoots from remaining roots, but this is manageable and far less aggressive than an intact stump.
A: Yes. Florida law requires calling 811 (the free utility locating service) before any ground-disturbing work. We recommend doing this 3 business days before your scheduled service. If you haven’t done it yet, let us know and we can help coordinate.
